Chug For The Jug

“Chug for the Jug and Carilion HealthWalk” washeld on April 23, 2011 in Downtown Rocky Mount. Over 100 individuals participarted in the event. Many thanks to sponsors, Franklin County Community Bank, Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, and Haywood's Jewelers. The 5K race and healthwalk provided a competitive venue for runners and walkers. The moderately easy course goes through the downtown area, crosses over into the Rocky Mount Industrial Park, and returns to downtown. Mountain Junkies of Salem, VA managed the timing. Winners of the 5K were given “little brown jugs”, individual winners of the healthwalk were given trophies, and the winner of the competitive walking team retained the coveted "Carilion Trophy" for another year.

Approximately 30 kids participated in the Franklin County Parks & Recreation "Kids Fun Run". Winners received ribbons.

Participants enjoyed the event, especially running in the Downtown area, and many have inquired about the possibility of a fall event in Rocky Mount.  So, stay tuned!
